New A.T.T.A.C.K.S. is a student-centered organization founded in 2010 by Dr. Rasheda Bell-Wells and Cindy Thomas. New A.T.T.A.C.K.S. will act as a resource linkage within local school districts to assist students, parents and other stakeholders in the “Education Community” with learning processes by developing study techniques, implementing alternative teaching strategies, promoting critical thinking skills and producing technologically literate students who are otherwise labeled “academically challenged”.

New A.T.T.A.C.K.S. will provide alternative teaching techniques for “academically challenged” kids and students to empower our youth. The organization will work diligently to ensure that students flourish academically and are able to become competitive, productive members of a global society.

There are many challenges associated with how students learn and process information in the 21st century. What is not debatable is that students learn in various styles. Sometimes the learning styles are quite different from traditional learning styles, i.e., those characterized by lecture, drill and practice. It is extremely important for both administrators and educators to understand the complex challenges imposed on many middle school students today that are quite different from past years. Indeed, the socio-cultural influences that may negatively impact on student achievement were not as pronounced as a generation ago. Leaders in education must take responsibility and pursue the challenge to embrace this diverse culture of student, and promote, implement and consistently evaluate new and innovative ways for academically challenged students to learn. Academically challenged students must be exposed to a variety of resources and materials that are socially, culturally and personally relevant. This concept suggests that academically challenged students may learn from alternative teaching strategies.
